1. Sky Lagoon, the best hot springs in Iceland
Sky Lagoon is one of the best hot springs in Iceland Our favorites! It is one of the newest, inaugurated in 2021, and most modern in the country.
Is found in Reykjavik making it a perfect activity if you are going to visit the city or the perfect ending to your trip to Iceland. Its main pool is very large and has Stunning ocean views. All the facilities are cared for in detail and its volcanic rock walls are beautiful, everything in general It makes you feel like you are living a luxury experience..
Furthermore, offers the option 7 steps ritual, which includes bathing in an infinity thermal pool, cold pool, dry sauna with direct views of the sea, cold steam shower, body exfoliation with a natural salt-based cream, wet sauna and ending with a hot shower.
If you do not have your own transportation you can also buy the entry with pickup from your Reykjavík hotel.
Ah! And of course, like all Icelandic hot springs, Sky Lagoon has a bar inside the pool from where you can order drinks that you will then pay for upon departure.

In the hot springs of Iceland It is mandatory to shower without a swimsuit before entering the pools. Remember to do this for hygiene and to avoid looks from angry Icelanders.
2. Forest Lagoon, Iceland's newest hot springs
Located in the north of the island, specifically on the outskirts of Akureyri, These hot springs are not yet very famous among tourists due to their recent inauguration in 2022, although I am sure that they will become popular quickly.
Stands out for finding integrated into a forest environment that transmits a lot of tranquility. It also has a beautiful dry sauna with views of the main pool and the forest that surrounds it and its entire design, as with Sky Lagoon, is taken care of in detail, giving a luxurious experience.
For us it is one of the best hot springs in Iceland and it is also in an ideal place because Akureyri is usually a base for spending the night in the Ring Road.
In addition to the two swim-up bars at Forest Lagoon there is a small restaurant dominated by a wood-burning fireplace with sweet, savory and cocktail options.

3. Vök Baths, hot springs in Iceland where you can bathe in a lake
Vök Baths are a modern hot spring in Egilsstadir, East Iceland, where the water comes directly from an underground source of mineral thermal water so here you won't have to worry the least about your jewelry. In fact, you can even try this water by making an infusion (included in the ticket).
These baths offer a unique experience in Iceland thanks to two floating pools on a lake. From these pools you can/should try what I call Viking baptism. The baptism consists of entering the lake that is between 14ºC and -5ºC from the pool at 41ºC. Even in winter there is a hole so you can do it.

There is also an in-water drinks bar, a steam bath, an outdoor terrace and a restaurant serving simple and delicious food.
Many people choose to relax at Vök Baths because Egilsstaðir is right in the middle of your route if you are doing the Ring Road. An ideal way to gain energy for the other half of the route.

4. Blue Lagoon
Blue Lagoon are without a doubt the most famous among all Iceland hot springs. You've probably seen plenty of photos or videos of this popular steamy turquoise blue pool.
Located on the Reykjanes Peninsula, near Keflavik International Airport, Blue Lagoon features warm, blue waters, surrounded by a lunar landscape of black lava. It also offers a wide variety of spa and massage treatments, as well as a selection of restaurants and bars.
Without a doubt, it is a unique experience that most tourists do not want to miss. Although we For the price we would recommend other hot springs, Blue Lagoon is not our favorite, but we have to admit that we liked the experience.
⚠️ Remember take off all your jewelry and put your hair up. Blue Lagoon has a high percentage of sulfur and other minerals that will leave you devastated.
What disappointed us was the facilities, they are very basic and old. Compared to other hot springs like Sky Lagoon here you don't leave feeling like you've been pampered. Added to that, being the most famous, they attract many visitors at all hours of the day.
The price of tickets It depends varies according to the time of reservation, from 9.990isk to 14.990isk for standard access.
Despite being the most expensive hot springs in Iceland, their tickets sell out very quickly, so much so that in high season you have to book weeks or even months in advance.
If you do not have your own transportation you can also purchase Tickets with collection from Reykjavík.

5. GeoSea, Iceland's hot springs with the best views
Located in the North Iceland, specifically on the outskirts of Húsavík and with a Spectacular view of the entire fjord.
From two infinity pools see boats performing sightings of whales and of course, if you are lucky, whales. And Húsavik is considered the European capital to spot these giants.
For our taste the pools are too small and it is a shame that their steam room is not a sauna with views of the fjord. But its landscape makes up for it all, especially in winter and early summer when there is still snow in the mountains it is incredible.
Its facilities are well maintained, they are very similar to Vök Baths and Forest Lagoon. And as a last recommendation is that you do not go on a windy day, there is no place to be sheltered and the water that falls over the infinity edge rises, making it really uncomfortable….

Still with the route unorganized? Take a look at our guides by area ↓
6. Myvatn Nature Baths, the cheapest “Blue Lagoon”
Myvatn Nature Baths are located in northern Iceland, very close to the Hverir geothermal area and overlooking Lake Myvatn. Its waters, like the Blue Lagoon, contain sulfur and other minerals that give it a blue hue opaque.
The negative part is that the entire area it smells pretty strong so they are not hot springs that invite you to stay for several hours. We didn't like the facilities either, quite neglected and old for the price, but we know that there is a remodeling project underway.

7. Laugarvatn Fontana, one of the most economical hot springs in Iceland
Located in full golden circle The Fontana hot springs have several small pools at different temperatures, some more beautiful and others with blue floors like a normal pool.
If it really stands out for something, it is the views of the lake and its natural steam baths, the steam rises directly from the geyser beneath them, it is something unique in Iceland.
It also does not have access to the lake so you can have a Viking baptism with views of one of the vIceland's most active olcanos, when we were there a girl confessed to us that every morning she drinks her coffee hoping that that day will be when it erupts.

In addition, they also have the option of taking a tour in English to see how they bake rye bread in a completely natural way. using the heat of the earth. The concept may sound familiar to you because it appeared in a Netflix documentary starring Zac Efron, Down to earth.
Of course the activity includes a bread tasting accompanied by Icelandic butter and smoked lake trout. Delicious!

8. Krauma
Krauma is a relatively new hot spring located in the western region of Iceland, near the Snaefellsnes peninsulaIts hot springs mix with fresh water from nearby glaciers, making it a unique experience.
In addition, it offers a great variety of pools at different temperatures with a total of 5 hot dishes and 1 cold one. It also has a spacious restaurant where you can try traditional cuisine.
In this list of best hot springs in iceland Krauma is in this location because we haven't visited it yet and can't objectively compare it with previous ones.
But we've heard quite a bit about it. Perhaps the biggest drawback is that there are many pools that aren't connected to each other, and depending on the time of year, it can get very cold. As a positive point, which almost no other has, it's a relaxation room with a fireplace in the middle of a place where you can relax in your swimsuit or bathrobe, even reading a good book on a rainy day.

9. Secret Lagoon, the oldest hot springs in Iceland
To finish this list of the best hot springs in Iceland we have Secret Lagoon, although not very secret anymore, it is the oldest thermal bath in the country with more than a century of history and one of the most economical. It is located in the golden circle and like Fontana, it is a good stop to rest after visiting all the attractions in the area.
It has a large thermal water pool, a natural steam sauna and a small geyser that erupts every few minutes, adding a unique experience to the visit. You will also find a bar and a restaurant serving Icelandic specialties.
Standard admission costs only €22, children under 14 can enter for free.
