Where are Togean islands and how to get there
The Togean Islands belong to the gigantic island of Sulawesi and are located in the Celebes Sea, just south of the Equator line.
The 56 islands that make them up (few are inhabited) are a paradise both outside and inside the water, because they are part of the Coral Triangle where more than 600 species of coral have been discovered and of course a wide variety of marine life.

Best time to enjoy the Togean Islands
Being just 40 kilometers from the Equator, the Togean Islands have a typically equatorial climate, where the dry and wet seasons are not as marked as in other regions, so you could go at any time of the year and find sunny daysHowever, two general periods can be distinguished:

Hotels In Togean, what are they like, what to expect, and our choices?
The accommodations are mostly rustic, at the foot of the beach, with mosquito net, cold water and electricity a few hours a day. There are some like Kadidiri Paradise, Buka Buka Island or Araya Dive Resort with more amenities.
Since there is nothing nearby, all include 3 meals and some also mid-morning and afternoon snacks.
The accommodations we stayed in were the following, all of them cost us €17 to €22 per person all-inclusive in the most basic cabins. If you prefer a cabin with better views or hotels with more amenities, it will cost you around €40-60 per person.
Poya Lisa, the first hotel in Togean where we stayed
Our first stop was an island so small you can walk around it in just a few minutes. It has two beaches and some nearby islets that you can reach by boat, which they lend you.
Although we liked the one on another island better, the snorkeling here was also amazing. We were treated wonderfully and the food was incredible. It's a great place to watch the sunset It is gorgeous.
They have the basic cabins literally right on the beach, it was our favorite. Other, slightly more premium options are available in the sunset area, with a terrace and hammock.
Bolilanga
An tiny island with very good snorkeling around and with the possibility of taking inexpensive tours to nearby reefs. The cabin was large and they also have two cabins over the sea precious.

It was a great way to spend our last day near the ferry to Gorontalo, but it was our least favorite. We went from islands with few cabins to this hotel, which was much larger and more impersonal. Choosing between Poyalisa and Bolilanga is a tough one. Poyalisa is smaller and more intimate, with a great spot for watching the sunset and excellent snorkeling. Hi Barbara 🙂 I'm glad it's helpful. When we went, we had a hard time finding up-to-date information! If you're only going to Togean, the best route would be, as you mentioned, from Jakarta (CGK) to Palu (PLW). There are several airlines that do this. We've used Lion Air and Gaurada Air for other routes, but generally speaking, you shouldn't have any problems with any of them.
As for travel insurance, to travel safely in Southeast Asia, I think it should cover at least 600 euros. I highly recommend it for its value. Heymondo
