LA MOST BEAUTIFUL CITY WHAT TO SEE IN NICARAGUA: GRANADA

The city of Granada is the tourist capital of the country And it's considered one of the most beautiful colonial cities in Central America. Its colorful streets, Andalusian-style architecture, and vibrant atmosphere make Granada an essential stop on any trip to Nicaragua.carWater.

Furthermore, Granada is not only interesting for what is inside but also for the environment that surrounds the city. You will be able to see Lake Cocibolca, the largest in Central America, where you can sail by ferry to the volcanic islands of Ometepe or take a Boat trip to the curious Isletas from Granada.

Not far from Granada you can also visit some of the most famous volcanoes orcarPeople from Aguascalientes are so important that they even appear on the country's flag. For example you can climb to the crater of the fertile Mombacho volcano where you can walk several trails and have views of the lake and Granada.

THE CITY OF THE REVOLUTION IN NICARAGUA: LEÓN

The historic city of León is Another of the best places to see in Nicarwater. Unlike Granada, this colonial city has a slightly more sober architecture that is more reminiscent of the Castilian style, although its streets are also colorful and there are an abundance of churches, the most impressive being its gigantic cathedral of pristine white.

But if León is important for anything, it is for its fundamental role in the recent history of NicarWater. This is where the Sandinista Revolution was born that in the 80s overthrew the dictatorship of the Somoza family.

Due to the relevance and recentness of the events, the revolution is still very present in the memory of the city. Good An example of this is the Museum of the Revolution and the murals and sculptures in memory of its heroes and victims.

How could it be otherwise, close to the city there is also a volcanos worth knowing. The most famous is the black hill, a very young and prominent volcano that is ascended on foot to descend at full speed on a wooden board like a sleigh.

The other famous volcano in the area is Telica, this volcano is active, smoke constantly emanates and during the night with a little luck you can see some lava inside. To get to it there is a route on foot that lasts practically the entire day and the usual thing is to stay spend the night at the top a tent and views of the crater.

OMETEPE, LA ISLAND BETWEEN VOLCANOES WHAT TO SEE IN NICARAGUA

After discussing two cities with strong ties to the volcanoes that surround them, it's time to talk about more volcanoes. Ometepe is one of the clear must-sees in Nicarwater, one island in the middle of the largest lake in Central America with two volcanoes in its scarce 30 kilometers of length.

Ometepe is known for the calm pace of life of the locals that also infects its visitors, where one of the best plans is to have a cold beer on one of its beaches with a volcano in the background.

Another plan that I recommend is rent a motorcycle, bike or car to explore it and get to know some of its corners such as Ojo del Agua, Charco Verde or Punta Jesús Maria. If you feel like a little more adventure you can climb the Concepción volcano, it is a tough climb and you will need a guide but the views are unique from the top.

CORN ISLAND, CARIBBEAN NICARAGUAN

In the Caribbean Sea there is an archipelago that few tourists visit that belongs to Nicarwater and it's a true paradise.

They are two small sister islands known as Little Corn Island and Big Corn Island. Both islands are so small that you can easily explore them on foot or by bike, although I recommend climbing Mount Pleasant Hill, the highest point and where you can see the best sunset.

The plan on these islands is what you can imagine in the Caribbean; relaxation, tropical food, beaches with palm trees, crystal clear waters And for sea lovers, a great place to practicecar snorkeling and diving

Although flights and the ferry reach the big island, don't forget to visit the little sister, many people agree that it is the prettier and wilder of the two.

VOLCANO MASAYA, THE GREATEST SHOW TO SEE IN NICARAGUA

Hay very few volcanoes in the world where you can see lava any day of the year and one of them is in NicarWater, the Masaya volcano is one of the most spectacular places to see in Nicaraguacarwater, since one of its craters is constantly active, bubbling lava inside.

The Masaya Volcano is located very close to both Managua and Granada so it iss very easy to get to and be able to appreciate the immense power of nature.

The most advisable is visit the volcano at sunset to be able to enjoy the sunset from the top of the crater and once it has gotten dark see hot lava and the reddish light that illuminates the entire crater. If you go in the morning between the sunlight and the large amount of gases that come out of the depths of the crater, it is very difficult to appreciate the lava.

BIOLOGICAL RESERVE INDIAN CORN

This is one of the best places in Nicarwater and hardly anyone visits it. It is located in the border with Costa Rica and its more than 300.000 hectares are home to countless animals and plants

One of the main reasons for the good conservation of flora and fauna in this place is that the large part of the Indio Maíz biological reserve is inaccessible because carretera. The only way to enter the reserve is by sailing along the rivers that cross it.

The point of most common entrance to the town El Castillo from where tours and the public ferry leave that navigates the San Juan River until it reaches the Bartola River that enters the reserve.

Navigating this river is not only interesting for its landscapes, but also for its history. And in the past it was used by merchant and pirate ships to cross from the Atlantic to the Pacific long before the construction of the Panama Canal. This was possible because it connects the Caribbean Sea with Lake Ometepe, which in turn connects with other rivers that flow into the Pacific.

In this remote region there are not many accommodations, I recommend the Hotel Lara built on the San Juan River.

From your accommodation you can book excursions of several hours to explore the reserve both from the river and on foot.

BEACHES OF SAN JUAN DEL SUR

This former fishing village has become more and more popular with foreign tourists.

The main reason to visit San Juan del Sur is its wild pacific beaches with good surf both in the town of San Juan itself, as well as in the surrounding area and the night life.

You can choose between beaches near hotels, bars and restaurants such as San Juan del Sur beach itself or others further north that are wild, with fine sand, good waves and spectacular sunsets such as Popoyo beach o Maderas beach. If you like surfing or want to learn, this is one of the best places in Central America and one of the cheapest.

The symbol of the town is the Christ of Mercy which is located at the top of a mountain and that serves as a viewpoint to have spectacular views of the entire bay

In the heart of San Juan and a short distance from the beach, I recommend the Tropical Hostel.

FLOWER BEACH

Just 25km south of San Juan del Sur lies one of the most special places on the Pacific coastcarAguanse. La Playa de la Flor is very popular for being one of the largest turtle nesting points from all over the country, which is why this beach was declared a Wildlife Refuge and is one of the most virgin beaches in the area.

Between August and November there are high chances of seeing the arrival large groups of turtles to dig their nests and lay their eggs. Approximately two months later all these eggs hatch and hundreds of small turtles can be seen beginning their dangerous but exciting life.

To visit this beach you have to pay an entrance fee of 200 córdobas for foreigners and 100 for locals.

SOMOTO CANYON

Very close to the border with Honduras is the Somoto Canyon, a beautiful place that is gaining popularity where you can practicecar canyoning in a surprising natural environment.

Depending on the time you have and the desire for adventure you have you can choose between 3 different routes which are covered on foot, swimming and jumping or an alternative route completely on foot to visit the canyon from above.
